The initiative Weaving Childhood Networks in Latin America and the Caribbean presented the Internet channel Ollin.TV, an opportunity to promote a human rights agenda for children and adolescents. It will seek to accompany the work that social organizations, agencies, authorities and children have carried out for four decades, recognizing the relevant role played by the media in the coverage and dissemination of these issues.
Juan Martín Pérez García, Coordinator of the regional initiative, added that this new space will also be an opportunity to allow intergenerational dialogue, generate a current of opinion that reaches the political agenda, establish strategic alliances, as well as bring them closer to children and adolescents tools to exercise your rights. He thanked those who have joined the task of weaving networks in favor of children.
During her participation, Esmeralda Arosemena, Rapporteur on the Rights of the Child (IACHR-OAS), recognized the importance that Ollin.TV will have, to ensure the rights of children, listening to the voice of children, thus achieving a cultural transformation in society and on public agendas, placing girls and boys at the center, under a shared responsibility.
For his part, Víctor Giorgi, Director of the Inter-American Institute for Children and Adolescents (IIN-OEA), recognized that a profound transformation is necessary, not with the services offered to children, but with the place that they are offered. gives in society; said that “Little is shown, through the media, of what childhood contributes to society; a lot is said about them, but little is listened to. Ollin.TV will be a grain of sand to amplify the voices of children who fight for their rights ”.
Lina Ornelas, Head of Public Policies and Government Affairs of Google Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean referred to the increase in the consumption of digital information on children and families, due to the pandemic; emerging important challenges such as looking for mechanisms to provide safe browsing, but above all to generate content that allows the exercise of the right to freedom of expression and access to information, remembering that there are international treaties that protect this right.
“More and more children are taking part in the great debates of the world, making use of social networks; they are a very important part of society and their voice is sometimes not heard, children know what they need and should be heard "said Jérôme Poussielgue, Head of Cooperation of the Delegation of the European Union in Mexico. He added that, according to the Audiovisual Consumption Survey, 60% of girls and boys consume information on the internet, of which only 5% is in the Spanish language.

Finally, Angie Marcela, a 15-year-old Colombian girl, also a member of #NuestraVozCuenta, asked the media to report on the issues that children need to know.
