Among the people who have suffered violence in the home, there are those who think that beatings and humiliations are a correct way to educate because they learned it that way.

Positive parenting is based on love, equality, and respect; proposes actions such as: exercising discipline without violence, educating about rights and duties, explaining norms and values, teaching how to be a good citizen, setting an example, even when no one is looking at you. Educating with violence generates fear, low self-esteem, feelings of loneliness, anxiety, anguish and more violence.
The 63% of girls, boys and adolescents in Latin America continue to receive beatings, mistreatment and psychological attacks for educational purposes, as a result of a patriarchal and macho culture. In this regard, Juan Martín Pérez García, Regional Coordinator Weaving Childhood Nets for Latin America and the Caribbean, he recalled that no form of violence against children is justifiable and that all forms of violence are preventable.
On the importance of incorporating practices aimed at positive parenting that keeps us away from mistreatment, Brenda Olguín, in charge of Institutional Relations of "Perma: Culture in Resilience" community of encounter, learning that promote resilience, recommended that adults who are accompanying the growth and development of childhood become aware of the current forms and practices with which they develop with childhood, so that from that reflection they can generate spaces of good treatment, of peace, framed in human rights, of self-care, but above all of growth and learning. He invited each family to review their contexts and establish respectful parenting projects.
Dante, an activist for the rights of girls, boys and adolescents and a member of the Justa Evaluation collective participated in the event; During her presentation, she carried out a detailed analysis of the relationships of violence and domination that have been present in traditional parenting methods in society and that have resulted in alarming numbers of violence and abuse against children. “As I am the father, and I provide, I have the right to educate the child as I want; the violent practices that we have normalized can be reversed with dialogue, tolerance and agreements; giving space for the emergence of safe environments ”, He said.
Finally, Juan Martín Pérez, recalled that to educate without violence, relationships between adults and girls, boys and adolescents must be based on love, equality and respect.
